YRC History
The history dates back nearly 100 years, when A.J. Harrell founded the Yellow Cab Transit Company. A few years later in Akron, Ohio the brothers Roush had created Roadway Express in 1930.
Fast forward 22 years and a teenager in Manitoba, Canada, DS Reimer, is helping his dad, Frank Reimer as they establish Reimer Express. The Reimer Express Lines established a route from Windsor to Winnipeg and was the original carrier to send shipments across the breadth of the Canadian frontier.
By now Roadway and Yellow Transit Co. had both worked their way into successful companies. Over the next fifty years, Reimer Express dominated the Canadian roadways. So much so, that in 1977 Roadway acquired Reimer Express. The acquisition created a seamless gateway from Mexico to Canada.
The year is now 2003, and Yellow Roadway Corporation has been founded, combining the shared excellence of Roadway, Yellow Transit, and Reimer Express. This efficient interconnected shipping network is now known as YRC Freight.
